About How A French Drain Works:

It operates by moving rain water that has been collected in a underground perforated pipe away from your foundation. To ensure the French drainage system works correctly, a trench is dug around the foundation of your home and positioned at a slope. This allows water to move into a gravel filled channel that houses a perforated pipe that sends water out and away from the home. Oftentimes French drains are built into homes during the initial build especially depending on the water table in your particular location.
