When To Get A Plumbing Test:Plumbing test after foundation repair

  • After foundation repair service has been performed. Lifting your house or other structure can cause breaks in plumbing pipes. For that reason it’s  important to have your plumbing checked immediately after fixing your foundation. In fact, most foundation repair companies require that a hydrostatic plumbing test be conducted after repairs are made. They generally require that any necessary plumbing work be done before they will issue a foundation warranty. The reason for this is simple: Plumbing leaks are one of the leading causes of foundation damage. If you allow moisture to continue seeping beneath your structure, it will do a great deal of harm. You might want to find out how plumbing leaks damage concrete slab foundations.
  • If you notice wet carpet or a moist spot in your floor. This could indicate that water is coming up from beneath your concrete slab. Leaks of this type can go undetected for years. It is quite possible to have a plumbing leaks years before it even occurs to you to have things checked out.
  • If the crawlspace is damp. Pier and beam foundations are affected by moisture. If your crawlspace is wet or has a bad odor, it’s possible that you have a plumbing leak. If you don’t think you have a drainage issue, then you might have a leak. The only way to know for sure is to have the plumbing tested.

Getting A Hydrostatic Plumbing Test For Leaks:

The vast majority of legitimate foundation repair companies will include a hydrostatic plumbing test in the price of their repairs. They enlist a licensed plumber to stop by your house after they service your foundation. Doing the test takes about 20 minutes. The point is to determine if you have leaks or not. If you do, they’ll let you know it. You can then enlist a plumber of your choice to locate the leak(s) and fix things. If you didn’t have your foundation repaired but still have concerns, just contact a licensed plumber. Make sure and tell them that you specifically want is a hydrostatic plumbing test. If you have “clean outs,” they can conduct the test from the outside of your house. If your property doesn’t have any clean outs, they will need to come inside to inspect things. Whatever you do, make sure that the plumber you contact is licensed.
